Think in functions, not one big dinner
Modern weddings span three to seven days. Each function has a different energy, guest count, and menu weight. Planning them together - with one caterer - keeps flavours coherent and logistics sane.
A typical five-function arc
Adapt to your traditions; this is a common Eastern India pattern.
- Day 1 - Mehendi: chaat counters, thandai, light lunch (Lunch tier)
- Day 2 - Haldi: breakfast or brunch, chai service (Breakfast + Chai Adda)
- Day 3 - Sangeet: grazing starters, live chaat, compact mains (Lunch tier + live counters)
- Day 4 - Wedding lunch: thali service, live tandoor (Lunch tier, Mayra optional)
- Day 4/5 - Reception: gala dinner, dessert theatre, global stations (Gala tier)
Guest counts often change per day
Mehendi might be 300 guests; reception might be 800. Lock counts per function for accurate quoting - the Wedding Planner handles this naturally.
Optional chapters
Breakfast for out-of-town guests. Chai Adda between rituals. Carnival on sangeet night. Pool party or after-party for the younger crowd. Mayra as a cultural centrepiece. Add what fits your family - skip what does not.
